update: birthweek

last week was my birth...week. i know it's generally constrained to a birthday, but the festivities for my birth were kind of spread out throughout the week. and it was awesome.



my birthday was actually on tuesday, and i was treated to the world's most adorable happy birthday banner, courtesy of my officemate, and cards and gifts from my wonderful coworkers. i really do work with the best people ever. in fact, i have a new coworker now, and we went out on my birthday to celebrate his arrival in the department. (okay, technically i'm not in the writing department, but whatever. i'm in the writing department.) that night, i celebrated with sloppy joes (omnom), a cupcake, and some ice cream. i even hummed happy birthday to myself. :)

wednesday, i went out with my friend joe, who is the most delightfully grumpy curmudgeon in the world. i met him at my previous job and he is the one bright spot of that whole experience. we went to a peruvian restaurant, where i ate beef heart (!!) and ceviche. it was very tasty, though the ceviche was so hot it made me want to die a little. wednesday night i went over to my friend callie's house, where there was cake and balloons (AWESOME balloons) and thoroughly modern millie (RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASPberries!) and a lot of giggling until i couldn't breathe. so much fun.

thursday and friday were celebration-free. on saturday, i celebrated in the afternoon with my family with a lovely barbecue. my sister becky made me a cake in the shape of cthulhu. (best family ever? i think so.) then that evening i went out to dinner with friends. it was a joint celebration of my birthday and the birthdays of my friends camie and tiffany. the food was amaaaazing. if you are in the provo area and haven't been to communal yet, repent immediately and go eat there. it's from the geniuses who brought us pizzeria seven-twelve and their food is absolutely inspired.

so all in all, it was a week full of lots of friends, family, and food-- pretty much the recipe for the perfect week. i should post pictures, but it is waaay past my bedtime and grandma brenda is tiiired. so... pictures tomorrow! (pics tomorrow, pics yesterdaaay... but nevah evah pics todaaaay... okay, one youtube clip so that makes sense. and then i'm seriously going to bed.)
